Community Dinner AND Songwriting Workshop - Next Week!

Hello friends! We have not one but TWO exciting events coming up next week!
Community Dinner:
Local Project and Needs Edition
đ
Date & Time: Tuesday April 7th, from 5:30pm-7:30pm
đ Location: Orange County Library Meeting Room, 137 W Margaret Ln, Hillsborough
đ˝ď¸ What to bring: Yourself, maybe a dish to share
We'd love to gather for another community dinner - we thought we'd theme this iteration the Local Project and Needs edition.
There are a number of upcoming and ongoing projects in our community - we wanted to come together to discuss how we can best coordinate these efforts. Of course we want to eat together and grow closer as a community as well!
A few projects we'd like to discuss:
- Hillsborough Really Really Free Market - What is the vision going forward?
- Festival of Abundance - Organizers from MATCH in Carrboro are planning to attend our dinner to discuss the Festival of Abundance they're planning for May 23 & 24 and how we can help out.
- Your Project! - We want to hear about what you have going on, what your dreams are, and how the community can support it.
A rough timeline for the evening:
- 5:30-6:00pm: Eat, chitchat, get to know neighbors, talk about your projects
- 6:00-6:30pm: Skills - What do we have/what do we need/what do we want to learn - go-around the room!
- 6:30-7:30pm: Projects share - let's take turns talking about what we have going on!
Hope to see you there!
Songwriting Workshop
with Jess Klein
đ
Date & Time: Saturday April 11th, from 2:30-4:30 PM
đ Location: Eno House's Fellowship Hall, 903 Eno St, Hillsborough
As a continuation of our ongoing skillshare series, we've arranged a songwriting workshop with our very own Jess Klein!
Class description:
Come get in touch with your inner songwriter in this workshop led by Hillsborough neighbor and critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Jess Klein. Weâll start off with an exercise to get you writing right away, then talk about how to shake off your inner critic, release writerâs block, and structure a song for maximum impact. There will be time for valuable group feedback on works in progress. Youâll leave with the seed of something new, and more confidence in your unique self-expression, no matter your experience level.
More about Jess:
Jess Klein came to this world to pull firebrand power and childlike joy from our darkest shadows. Her acoustic-driven, hook-laden story songs revel in the polychrome of human experience - joy, rage, sensuality and resilience. The New York Times calls her âA songwriter with a voice of unblinking tenacity.â
Jess has toured the globe performing in pin-drop listening rooms, cozy theaters and at raucous festivals in front of tens of thousands. She has toured nationally and internationally supporting Arlo Guthrie, Josh Ritter, Damien Dempsey, and John Fullbright and has opened for such legends as Ani DiFranco, Steve Earle, Chuck Prophet and Alejandro Escovedo. Jess has appeared on Good Morning America and NPRâs All Things Considered and has performed at the Newport, Winnipeg, Falcon Ridge and Philadelphia Folk Festivals as well as Fuji Rock Festival in Japan.
